Saving a Piece of Local History

In the years since the black and white photos shown below were taken, much deterioration had occurred to the buildings. In 1999 --through join efforts put forth by the County of Riverside, MDC-VAIL (the property owners), and VaRRA--the exteriors were restored (see color photos). However, an enormous about of work still needs to be done to make the interiors safe enough for visitation. The insides of these buildings remain in an extremely dilapidated state. The ownership of the property has since changed hands and is now owned by Excel Legacy Corporation. They are currently developing plans for the historic property and the commercial area that surrounds it.

The County of Riverside remains involved in the planning for the area. Many people would like to see the site become a county historical park.

The Vail Ranch Restoration Association, Incorporated has now received nonprofit status (#2049552). To  become a member of VaRRA or just attend a meeting, contact any of the people listed in the contact section of the "Home" page.
